Hi,

I may get another african dwarf frog. One question, will it mix well with red cherry shrimp?

ADF's have notoriously bad eyesight- shrimp aren't overly large and it wouldn't suprise me if some got eaten, whether accidently or not.

they'll eat more than your shrimp mine ate some of my tetras and most of my little shrimps

Hmmmm, perhaps I'll wait on getting the frog.

If its actually a dwarf and not the African Clawed frog ur shrimps should be fine, I have kept both and they never bothered each other. As for eating neons I doubt very much that was an african dwarf frog.

They should be perfectly fine, many people do it. As said before, they have bad eyesight so may try, but shrimp are pretty fast and not that stupid :good: .
Adf's would only eat the shrimplets, as would any fish, so don't expect your shrimp to breed.
Gallum8-it sounds like you have an african clawed frog, afrcian dwarf frogs would never be able to eat a tetra :) .
So in summary unless you have TINY shrimp (under 1") you will probably be fine. There are 1" amano shrimp and adf's in the same tank at my work and they are doing great.

I just got my red cherry shrimp a few weeks ago so they are small still. I have 2 and I doubt they are an inch long yet.

mine cant even catch a frozen blood worm, never mind somthing that actually moves

I have seen this brought up so many times on different forums and i know of other people aswell as myself that have lost tetras to ADFs and as for the ACFs they can swallow an adult Krib no problem

In any of the cases have the people actually seen the ADF's catch the tetras? -_-
Im thinkin the fish died and were only eaten after that.
And they would have to be VERY small tetras like young neons or ember tetras, in which case it is quite possible for them die in a tank suited to ADF's.

I house my cherry shrimp with ADFs, and I've never had an issue. Occasionally, when there's bloodworm in the water, I'll see a shrimp get nervously close to a snapping frog, but they always zip away before the frogs can clamp down on them. Methinks the shrimp have far, far better reactions than the frogs.

As for shrimplets, yeah, I think you're screwed. My RCS lay eggs constantly, but except for one sighting of shrimplets I haven't seen any come to term. That may have to do with not covering my filter however, and I'm waiting on a ground cover to fill in, which should help survival of shrimplets significantly. I'll need to look into it. Cherries are as prolific as Guppies though, so there's always more coming.

Speaking of guppies, the same tank has six guppy fry. Well, not quite fry anymore, going to the store this week. But since they have been in a tank with only the ADFs I haven't lost a single one, despite the fact they were easily chow-able size. My guess is frogs ignore anything in the water column when looking for food.

About the only way I could imagine successful fish capture is the following scenario.

1. Food is in the water. ADF will snap at anything when there is food. I had one chase a bamboo shrimp three times his size across the tank.

2. The fish tiny.

3. The fish is dead, sick, asleep, or otherwise resting on the bottom.

So yeah, I think the chances for a fish dying are pretty close to nil.
