Hello,

A frog has managed to get into my garden and has a tendency to jump into the pond. Do frogs attack smaller fish such as golden orfe, shubunkin, goldfish or a small tench?

I managed to take a picture of the frog before it leaped into the pond:

Should I remove it from the pond? It has swam to the bottom of the pond and is scaring the fish. I am also not sure if it is capable of getting out.

as long as there is a low edge to the pond so it can get out it will find its own way, otherwise wait until its at the top and scoop it out.
It won't do any harm in there and is unlikely to harm any fish of any sort.

Shaun.

The only time I've heard of fish dying because of frogs if you get a lot of them and they are spawning, some times a frog will grab a fish (mistaking it for another frog) and drowns it by mistake. Saying that however I have both Frogs and fish in my garden pond and never had a problem. I would never get rid of the frogs as they will help cut down some of the Garden pests.

Thank you for the information.

When I first noticed it was in the pond this morning it was trying to climb vertically up the side of the pond. It is too slippy for it to climb upwards and the height of the side of the pond is around 15cm from the pond water surface. Some times it enters the water by climbing into the border plant pot which is placed on one of the 'shelves' within the pond and then climbing out of it to go swimming; whether or not it knows to do this in reverse in order to get out, I have no clue.
