Every sales person I speak to has recommended AGAINST splitting a tank and yet you have done it many times! How do your Bettas handle having a male Betta as a constant neighbour? Do they get tired of flaring? Do you think they find it stressful (I don't think you do, or you wouldn't do it).
I would really like to have more Bettas, but the cost of a larger tank with a heater is prohibitive, and splitting a tank is more financially reasonable. Does the divider hide the neighbour? Do you put plants there to hide the neighbour?
Thanks!

They'll get tired of flaring at each other after a while. That's why they look so bored and listless after a while - because they are used to their neighbors. Besides, why would they sell a 2.5 gallon tank that has inserts for glass "betta dividers" if it wasn't to be intentionally used like that in the first place?

My guys flare more at their own reflections in the glass then they do their neighbors. I mean of course they did at first, but now it's not that bad. The divider I use is more of a mesh type thing then anything, and it is kinda hard to see through. Imagine having like a picket fence between you and your neighbor, you can only see them when they are at a certain point. And it's black which makes it a bit more non-see-through. Mine aren't listless, sometimes they will pace each other back and fourth of the divider.

I love my divided tanks, only wish I had room for more.

Ok but I don't want my betta to be 'bored and listless'.
I might try your setup FreshWaterGal, I'll think about it.
There are so many gorgeous Bettas out there calling to me!
