Freshwater Flounder

I know I've read things here and there about them, but I can't remember what it was...maybe that there isn't such a thing as a freshwater flounder?

I saw one today at a large chainstore (quite an odd little fish, which I love). I was very tempted to bring it home, but there was something it the back of my head telling me it was a bad idea. I think it was the guy saying they grow to the size of their tank... That's what people said about goldfish as well...it just didn't sound right to me. Any info on these fish would be greatly appreciated.

Awe I love these little guys I got one when I was stocking my tank, but it died a few days after. I don't think I had enough salt in the water... I plan on getting one when/if I get a brackish tank set up though.

Such a shame these little guys only do well in brackish. my one LFS has them in stock all the time and they look soo cool but I don't want a tank dedicated just to 1" fish.

Not all species are brackish.
