LFS has a couple of fish in the tank they are calling a "flounder". They are about 1.5" long and are flat like a flounder. I've been able to find very little information about these on the internet. Anyone have any clues? The LFS is mainly staffed by local high school girls and they have little to no knowledge about fish. They are pretty cool looking and I'd be interested in possibly getting one or both but don't want to get something which I don't have any information on. Preferred water conditions? Food? Max size? etc.

I kept one about a year ago but this was about 8". it feed on bloodworm and didn't really move around the tank too much. they are sensative to changes in the water chemestry and temperature so your tank would ave to be quite old about 4-6 months and the temp should not fluctuate much. I kept mine with small fish so I don't think that keeping them in a community tank would be a problem. as for water chemestry, I think that as long as you avoid extreems, then you shouldn't have any problems.

Most of the flounders seen in LFS are actually brackish fish and do not live long in FW aquariums, they usually preffer slightly cooler temperatures too.

Staffed by school girls that don't know much about fish? I wonder how they got hired or how they got in. I have a lfs with a few blonde girls there. They are smart with fish too. It just perfection that I didn't know was possible.
