Hi, just wanted to know what would be suitable fishes to occupy a 12 gallon tank? Which would be better, cardinal or neon tetras and what sort of setup (planted, bare etc) will be suitable for these tetra species? Thankyou

I prefer the Cardinals but that is a personal choice because of their colors. Both of these tetras do well in a planted tank.

Those fish would both go wonderfully in a tank that size and IMHO, fish do better in planted tanks. Check out the planted tank section for some good links and helpful advice!

Why not do a biotope, n amazonian theme, where they come from, slightly soft acidic water of around 6.5?

Also the cardinals are more colourfull but the neons are tougher as the majority are now tank bred itn the trade so are more acclimatised to local water conditions
