ive been reading up on filtration for a brackish tank im going to be setting up next week, i came across something that said the filter should be marked for fresh and salt water use. got me thinking whats the difference

i know eheim do specific filters for fresh and marine but what is the actual difference surley there cant be all that much to it can there?

As far as the filter is concerned, it has to be made of proper metals to tolerate saltwater. Has to have high-grade stainless steel if any is used in the design or be a pure synthetic design. Cheap steel or brass will corrode quickly in a saltwater environment

makes sence but ive read that even stainless steel will rust in salt water, hell ive seen it rust in freshwater

i work at a structural steel fabrication company mate i know all about stainless i regularly steal it for my tank helps with standing rocks up lol! :hey:
