If I were to set up a brine shrimp hatchery it would give me far more shrimp than I could ever use. Is it possible to freeze these baby brine shrimp in an ice cube tray to be used later? If so that would be really cool.

Thanks!!

It should be ok, but i know fish get attracted to the brine shrimp fry activity. I guess you can try a batch out a freeze it and see if the fish you intend to feed them to are as attracted to them frozen.

if you have water aggitation/current in your tank they should still take them after they've been frozen as they will be moved around the tank by the current etc.. this should attract the fish. :D

Hi scott1000 :)

It would be worth a try.

I've recently bought a pound of live blackworms and froze the ones I couldn't use in a few days time.

While I'm not as happy with them frozen as I was when they were live, I like them as well or better than the ones I've bought prefrozen. And, at least I know that they appeared alive and healthy when they were frozen which is more than I can say about store bought ones.

I just put small amounts into the cups of a plastic ice cube tray and froze them. When they were hard, I popped them out and put them into a plastic container for storage.

I find they are best when I defrost them at room temperature before using.

I don't see why freezing brine shrimp would be any different for you than the blackworms were for me.
