One of my bettas eats nothing but freeze dried krill and brine shrimp!! And everyone is saying that i should not feed them that! Are freeze dried foods THAT bad for your bettas????

No they aren't BAD for the fish... but there are other things that are better. IME I haven't had ANY fish that would touch freeze dried anything. If thats all he'll eat, then feed it to him. Have you tried frozen yet? Or peas? Normally they love peas. :)

if freeze dried is ALL they ever eat, i woudl make sure to stuff a few peas down thier throats from time ot time to ensure that their digestive system is clear.

i heard freeze dried can be harmful to the digestive system if eaten too constantly, watch out for coinstipation and things :)

I'm confused as to how often it would be healthy to feed freeze dried. Assuming the betta is taking other foods such as pellets, flakes, frozen, would feeding freeze dried bloodworms more than once a week be too much protein?

Noheasurfer, is your betta new? How long has he been with you? Have you tried Hikari brand betta pellets? I've been told that's the best out there, and it seems that most bettas like it better than other foods. When my bettas were new, it took them 3-5 days to get used to the food I was feeding (flakes). But they liked Hikari pellets right away.

I'm not sure about other brands, but I know Hikari freeze-dried foods are fortified with vitamins.
