Hey there, i need to get rid of a few fish after being given bad advice by my lfs on how compatible they would be in my tank (too small).

I have one blue/gold female gourami, one red tail shark and two clown loaches, all rather young!

I live in bath, thanks!

How would i go about posting fish? It doesnt sound too fair on them! What would i need to package them in?

fish bag in a poly box with a heat pack, then put poly box in cardboard box and send it special delivery next day, it should cost around £9

also right fragile on all 6 sides just to be on the safe side

but u will need to put no more than 2 fish per bag so make sure the poly box is big enough for 2 bags

Sounds a bit risky, no chance you'd collect?

cant collect sorry, but i dont think it is that risky people do it everyday and aslong as they are sent special next day they will be with me before midday, so if u post them after lunch they will be in transit for less than 24hrs

Hmm.. Where could i get the bags and boxes? Im looking to not spend any money because im kinda gutted about having to give them away after spending quite a bit on them in the first place! The LFS that sold me them wont take them back grr.

u can get a couple of fish bags for free from lfs and probably a poly box aswell as thats what there fish are delivered in, the most u should have to pay is £1.50 for box and bags which i will reimburse u with the postage money

How do you think the fish get to the LFS if it weren't by posting/shipping?

its best to double bag each bag of fish to cut down the risk on and leaks and fish puncturing the bag, also acts as more insulation. also completely fill the box with newspaper to prevent the bags from moving too much and again to add insulation. stick a heat pack in the bottom and one at the top just to be safe. then wrap the whole thing in paper again for extra insulation, tape up well and write fragile oll over it.
also dont feed the fish the day before so they can clear themselves of poo and it means less pooing in the bag so better water quality for the trip.

no offence but is the cost of the boxes heat pack and postage cost efficient for 2 gourami

scot

Just one gourami, but she is a blue/gold mix i believe.
