I have declared all out war on my snails. I’m helping the assassin snails remove them. Anyone that wants them can have them. I’m placing them in an extra tank to feed to the assassins once their supply gets low. I do not care for these creatures at all.

I bought a special cleaning kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071DG5XZR/?tag=

For one thing, and one thing only: That plastic scoop/sieve thingy. Trying to pick dozens of MTS out of sand is crazy difficult and annoying, so I hoped that sieve thing would work, and it does! I scoop, sand falls through, large enough snails get trapped and lifted out. And it's pretty fine, so it gets them when they're quite small.

I should feed less to try to stop them breeding so much, but with baby fish, cories and shrimp, tank needs pretty heavy feeding, and the snails set upon anything put in for the cories or shrimp. I like MTS, I appreciate them burrowing the sand for me, but there's way too many of them and I think they're eating my plants too.

I like snails. I have little pond snails in my tank and I like them. They're kind of cute, keep things cleaned up, and they're easy to squash into fish food if they get out of hand. I think ramshorns are cute, too. But MTS sound annoying. @AdoraBelle Dearheart I hear you can put in a plate with a few slices of blanched cucumber, leave it over night, and in the morning it will be covered in snails. Then you can dispose of them. Or make them into very small escargot. Or whatever.

I like the pond snails too, those ones never seemed to overpopulate my tanks for some reason. They've vanished now, think the wormer might have killed them off. The tiny ramshorns are a pest, too small for anything but assassins to bother with, and assassins can't really keep up.

But for MTS, I have my super scooper siever now! :D :kana:
My problem is, I can't bring myself to turn the larger ones into escargot... or whatever. I like their little antics, so I keep the big guys, but get frustrated when the big guys make many little guys. I'm my own worst enemy!

The ramshorn are devouring my swords.

Oh no! That's not good :(

You need a super scooper siever thing too!

Ignore that it's called a gravel rake. It's really a snail scooper, honest! Eeehh, might not work as well with ramshorns. Works with MTS since the pointy end gets stuck in the gaps.

You know the question we'd ask anyone else... are you overfeeding a tad, perhaps?

I feed bbs in the evenings and I know that’s it but my cores breed like mad so don’t want to stop. MTS love bbs! Will get a rake. Thanks!

I hope the rake helps! Worth a shot anyway. If you can clear a load in one go, you'll get some peace from them for a short while anyway!

I'm in the same boat. Have fry, cories, and shrimp in the tank, so I have to feed pretty heavily. And you can't exactly tell the snails it's not for them, lol. We might be stuck with snails...

Kitty litter scoops come in many sizes.
Maybe an option?
