If you are in the US, Aquatic Foods of California are offering free samples of their Blackworms. Go to their site here and click the "Free Blackworms" box and print the certificate.

It tells you what to do if your lfs doesn't stock them. I don't know how big the sample is or how widespread they are available, but it's free and it can't hurt to ask.

Hi LL :)

Thanks for the link. I'll take them up on their offer!

I also see that their prices are excellent for blackworms in bulk. Do you think that buying that way would be a good idea for a hobbyist? If I washed and froze the excess worms, would they lose any of their food value or be any different than commercially frozen worms?

I would have expected them to retain just as much food value frozen. I looked over their "Dealers offers" and they talk about "worm keepers" - I don't know what these are like, but if I was in the US, I'd certainly be interested in them.

You have to convince your LFS to stock them. Its great marketing the lfs's customers will be asking for the product and no manager in his right mind would refuse the customers request. the customers will file into there LFS's and list off the benefits of black worms right off the websight. I love capitolism.

Hi Patrick333 :)

Just click where it says "here" on the first post of this thread and it will link you to the company's website. From there, just follow the directions.
