I have just been offered a 5 foot tank with hood/light for free, will find out for def over next couple of weeks.

Only thing is no stand. Would i be cheaper Buying a stand for it or getting someone to make me one?

I am no Bob the builder :hyper: so would either have to be buy or get one made.

Ooooh how exciting.

i advertised a lot of my fish on freecycle to be rehomed and stated because i needed a 5-6 foot tank and he said i have one :hyper: :hyper:

Zoe :good:

i would suggest making a stand, buying one could turn out to be very expensive, but trawling the aquatic adds may turn up something.

Yeah. well i know of a few joiners so could speak to them and see what they say. The stand MUST be black. so not sure what wood to use.

The stand i have for my tank at the moment is really nice could get them to build the same but bigger. :)

well i would use a seasoned pine frame, mdf for the base top, if you see what i mean, and chipboard will do for the sides and any doors and shelf's.

Very true

lol i was thinking of you giving some instructions to a joiner. lol. but if you are up to the job there is nothing better than looking at something and saying, "i did that". lol dont worry sex has nothing to do with it, some of the best joiners i know are female. there are some good plans out ther on the net, if you search.

Right i am def gonna make one, I might even suprize myself by doing a good job.

as a joiner my self i personally wouldnt go for mdf or chipboard it may be the cheaper way of doing things but in personal experience if that stuff gets wet ur in for a bumby ride it can bow and even collapse and under that amount of pressure (gallons) i would say its not worth the risk for the tanks sake the fish's sake and yours theres nothing worse then clearing up broken glass =/
