Hi peeps!
The other day I posted about my new female betta dying on saturday :( , I wen't to the lfs where I got her to check out the other females and none were there..... So I asked a clerk what happened and that mine had just died on me. He said that every female betta in that tank was dead by the time he got there saturday morning!!!! The tank was REALLY full too, I feel so bad for all of those beautiful fish. I talked to the manager and he gave me a slip for a free female the next time they get them in.... I am relieved that I had done nothing wrong to cause this fish to die... wow I can't imagine what the tank would have looked like that day

it wasn't over stocked was it?, that woulda done it. also cleaning with any bleech or ammonia prduct would kill them off quick to. -_-

You might not want to go back to that lfs, at least not for bettas. Their tank should not have been so full. Next time ask them how old their shipment is and ask them to keep it for you for 2 weeks or so. This way you don't get stock that is too weak. If they say no, then I would suggest looking for a lfs that keeps better care of their fish and is more customer-friendly.

Yeah, the tank was stuffed w/ them, but i think that it was a fairly new shipment of them... I would have to say that it was a chemical or something that got to them because they said one had jumped over the divider and was fine... but they sold her.

This dealer doesn't seem very reputable. Selling stock that jumped out of the water for apparent reasons without checking for signs of ill health.

These people do a fairly good job tending to their fish. The only things I don't like about what they do are over stocking their tanks and selling painted and dyed fish... Pluss they are the only place I can get female bettas right now.

I guess Wal-mart doesn't have stores up there in Canada. Ok. Whatever suits you. Just make sure you quarantine your fish and you should be fine...
