Hi folks
Subsequent to me being on tour and no one bothering to change water, clean the tank (in which we have one large swallow tail type goldfish and one shubinkin), the poor shubunkin has developed four wart like white growths, two on either side.
I am assuming these must be some sort of parasite and for the moment the fish still looks healthy enough (feeding and swimming OK) but I am feeling dreadfully guilty and am desperate to try and find some sort of cure for the problem before the fish gets sick, as the growths appear to be getting bigger.
When I eventually cleaned and changed the water, I added a minute amount of salt as this was the only thing I could think of which might help
Any advice or suggestions would be extremely gratefully received and I offer my utmost thanks in advance (on behalf of both me and the poor fish) for any assistance whatsoever
Kind Regards
Bernard
PS. Having been in too much of a hurry to request help, I have just read the request for the relevant info;
my tank is approx 3ft x 18in x 2ft (tall), the two fish have been living in there for about a year and the problem occurred after it was left for about 6 weeks without a water change. There is a filter in the tank which is designed for a bigger tank (ie. is more than adequate). As soon as I returned I did about a two thirds, to three quarter water change and the only thing I add to the water are a few drops from the small yellow tube containing a blue liquid (sorry I used the last and cannot remember what it is called) but it is a general curative which I always add to the water before leaving it for 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate.
As mentioned I also added a tiny solution of salt, just out of desperation, as it was the only thing in my kit which I could think might help (I have white spot remedy and and algae remedy neither of which have been used for the past eight months)
Sorry I don't have any more accurate info to offer
