this 1st link is funny, because they are listed as Sea Monkey's... but I started looking at this brand with mosquito larva ( the 2nd link ) ... they have several other different types of canned in liquid foods... thoughts, other than catch your own???

being canned, they are shelf stable until opened, then require refrigeration... I've not tried any yet, they are kind of expensive, but probably feed out like thawed frozen cubes??? anyone tried any of these brands or types of foods???

I'm thinking some of the different ones , could be added to the shrimp cocktails I feed... that are a shaker bottle with frozen brine shrimp, & blood worms currently...

Dried adult brine shrimp and dried mosquito larvae . It should be good food , as good as freeze dried . The old term for brine shrimp , sea monkey’s , is still around . Oh ! I read your post again and these are NOT dried but in liquid ? Never heard of that before . I would be leery of that because of the possibility of introducing pathogens .

I don't think they are dried??? maybe reconstituted, but believe they are moist in the jars... appears to be a few brands, and several species processed this way...

I have no experience first hand but have seen reports on other sites. I too believe they are reconstituted freeze-dried. The photos of an open can looked...nasty. The two anecdotal reports were that their fish, bettas in both cases, turned their nose up at it. Bettas can be finicky so these reports may not be typical.

Yes , Betta’s can be finicky but when any animal refuses to eat something there’s something wrong . If this stuff is reconstituted freeze-dried I would think it’s already rotting in the jar .

Why would you overpay for this stuff when frozen is more nutritious, lasts a lot longer and is available in bulk.

I have routinely purchased between 12 and 15 pound of frozen brine, mysis, bloods, rotifers, cyclops (hard to find now) and even a couple of blister packs of Daphnia and BBS about every 10 months for years. I consider frozen to be the next best food after live for many things.

My preferred dried foods are from Ebo-Aquaristik in Germany. I get the both the Softgran mussel and insect, shrimp sticks, mussel sticks, veggie sticks and Supersoft Brine (almost a powder and great for fry). This last order I added their Spirulina Softgran. They sent a sample of their Spriiulina tab and my shrimp, bn and snails love it. I regret not finding this food sooner.

I still feed the occasional zucchini against since I got bn for algae duty not having kept them for a long time. The shrimp and assassin snails eat it as do some of the fish.

One of the few things we do for our fish is to select the foods we feed, I learned how important what we choose is in terms of the health and breeding behavior of many of out fish.

I have not seen a food most of my fish would not try to eat of it fit in their mouth. They do not care if it is good for them or not. If you buy live brine from a store the odds are good that it has little or no nutritional value unless you know for sure that they regularly feed them well to insure they have the best nutritional value. When we feed BS, the fish go nuts and gobble it. They have no clue if it has been gut loaded or not. They just go for it and gobble it up.

It is up to us to make sure our fish have a proper diet. So we need to be informed about what the fish need and what exactly is in the food we give to them.

Btw- I gave up feeding freeze dried bloods and most other freeze dried foods many years ago. They don't sink very well and I have a lot of bottom dwellers.

As always, this is just my opinion and may or may not be the best way to go.

it's been a while, but I believe O as looking for Mosquito larvae
