Found it in a pond behind the house. Only 5 clumps so far.

Having had duckweed and (unfortunately) still having duckweed; I have one question...why???

Once you have it you will not want it...trust me.

And I would not put anything from natural waters in my tanks, call me cautious or just call me 🐔

Now is the time to take the decision if you want to keep it... I got some Cherry Shrimp from a hobbyist and the shrimp came with 2-3 pieces of duck weed and I thought to myself 'ha duck weed! I've not had that before' and now I have enough to stuff a mattress with on a near-weekly basis...

tbh i love duckweed, its one of the key parts of the ecosystem in my tank. and if there's too much, i just give it to my friend's chickens.
its easy to keep under control but hard to eradicate

I might end up keeping it. I have chickens… do they eat it, or what?
dry it to a crisp in the sun. apparently its to good my friend's chickens fight for it! nice protein and plants for chickens
make sure to dry more than you think you need, because it shrinks a lot in the sun

Great! Thanks.

One alternative to hard to eradicate duckweed is Salvinia minima. it is a larger plant and easy to remove when you don't want it. You can find it for sale on line. Amazon.com often has mutilple people / companies selling it and other floating plants.
