I found this in a Bargain Hunter magazine, which to me sounded like a nice deal.

20 gal aquarium c/w Canopy & Light, heater, thermometer, plants, coloured gravel, corner filter, pump. Asking $40.00

Can anyone tell me whats wrong with this deal? I am presuming these are the fake ugly plants, and I will be using sand anyway so count out the gravel. Thanks.

Yeah, I was planning on callling to ask. I want to put cichlids in this tank.

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of cichlids were you planning on? If it's something smaller, like rams, apistos, shelldwellers. You may be alright but on a whole, if you were going to do some of the other african cichlids they do get fairly large and prefer to be kept in large groups to avoid aggression. Also their tank would need many hiding places. So a 20 gallon may not be appropriate. Just keeping an eye out for you. ;)

I was thinking some electric yellows and blood parrots maybe. Do they get large?

Edit: Now I was just reading that the electric yellows are reccomended a 30 gallon atleast. Well, I just want some colourful fun fish, other than the ones in my sig. Reccomendations?

Don't feel bad. If you want cichlids, you'll need a bigger tank anyway. Now you can look around for a much bigger tank for LOTS of cichlids. Happy hunting.

I also found this:

Dark Wood Aquarium/small cage stand. The base for setting cage on is 25"x13". The height is 27". Asking $50.00 OBO Retails over $100.00.

So, how big would the aquarium be?

Anyone know? Sorry, I just want to call before someone else has taken the deal.

Standard tank sizes that can fit that stand are:

10 Galllon Long - 24x8x12
15 Gallon - 24x12x12
20 Gallon High - 24x12x17
25 Gallon Extra High - 24x12x20

It sounds like it's just the stand that is being sold and the stand is 27" tall.

I don't think a tank is being sold. If the tank is 25"X13"x27", it is like Ginge said about 37 gallons; closer to 38.
