Iuse a magnum 250 HOT PRO on one side of of my tank. It is an amazing filter system. I am still looking for a flaw. Very quiet, great flow, awesome filtering from the standard filter ( have not used the micron filter yet that comes with it, supposed to be amazing for polishing), and the bio wheel attachment has to be the most advanced and best engineered i have seen. With that said. Since i do not have the filter in the middle of the tank i wanted to add some sort of water mover to the other side. was going to order a powerhead, but aquariumpros.com had a sale on penn plax filters. the cascade 300 ( for 100 gallons, 300 gph) was on sale for 26 bucks. i fugured why not, same price as powerhead, cant over filter..yadda yadda yadda, better water flow rate... The cascade is a good looking filter, large and great flow. there are two plates in line with a prefilter and another filter media. looks like great filtering. the bio falls output method is amazing. really neat. the cascade has a very nece input tube that is telescopic so you can set your depth. The bio falls does a nice job of diffusing the 300gph output so your tank does not turn into a whirlpool. I am happy with the unit- especially for 26 bucks. now the bad part: it is not a silent machine. The ocver seems to vibrate a little on the unit so I took some air hose and split it and lined the outter edge of the cover to reduce vibration. Not a bedroom filter. OVerall i give it a B+. Check it out of u need a cheap filter that has a high flow rate and a great filtering capacity.
