so I've been playing with this tank ( it's so, not me... nothing natural looking ( even the fish are not "natural" )... I tried an out of the box project, instead of gravel on the filter plate, I made mats of Java Moss , & use a pair of powerheads to pull the water through the Java Moss mats for filtration... It seams to be working like I wanted, with one exception... my baby L333 Plecos ( 4, they were to be the referees ) moved under the mats , as well as my yellow shrimp... so I'm likely going to move the mats to the next tank I set up, & replace the field with green aquarium gravel...

anyway, as you can see, I have added several "vikingish" pieces to the field... the newest is a resin Viking boat, that was intended to be an incense burner, it has troughs & holes on the inside, so the smoke was supposed to go out, so as an incense burner, the boat was supposed to look like it was sailing in a lake of smoke or fog on your table... I wanted the boat, because it was just the right size, but decided to add some carbon inside the boat... the powerheads outlets push the water towards & around that area... the smoke vents allow water to flow around and through the carbon, as an added benefit

the tank about 3 months ago...

the moss is really starting to grow out, the effect would be great, if I didn't have a half dozen residents living in the basement...

this is the ship... the carbon is loose right now... & there is some spillage from installation, & the corys... so I have some appropriate sized black mesh bags coming... easy in, easy out, & no mess

I didn't like the white "zombie" fish, so they were changed to a different tank, & gold Glo fish added with the purple ( Vikings )... ( I use a black light as a night light for a few hours on my tanks, & those gold ones just "glo"
