For breeding, lights on or off?

Hi! I am wondering, should I have the lights on or off for my platys to breed? r does it even matter? thx!!

My platies breed only with the lights on. They also breed at a certain time of day for me, usually around 3:30pm

I have heard some say that their platies will only breed in the dark or when no-one is around. Mine are not shy at all and will happily perform for an audience anytime.
