Ok, this is mainly for the keepers of Yellow Cherry Shrimp and anyone else who has kept this strain in the past.
I will point out right now that I do not have any Yellow Cherry Shrimp myself (not at $45 each) but other people in Australia do have a few and they are finding that they are getting more males than females from their stocks. So my question is this does anyone else on here find theyn are getting more of either sex in this strain? Or are they staying more 50:50?
I have some ideas on the cause but they are only specualtion. Ideas such as : Limited genetics (live shrimp are not allowed to be imported and when they are the cost is prohibative in actaully getting them through quarrentine), water parameters too acid or alkaline might be affecting the sexes, along with temps being to cool or warm. Then there is the age of the shrimp, too many creatures have predominatley male or female offspring at certain ages, to leave this idea out. And then lastly I wonder if food might be playing a part into the odd sex ratio of the offspring.
Any Keepers ideas and observations will be greatly welcomed and recieved with interest .
