food for sailfin pleco

my tank used to have alot of algae but he cleared all of it a few days after i put him in.. he doesn't like algae tablets (or 'complete' tablets for bottom feeding fish')and wouldn't touch cucumber... what should i do?? is there a way i can make the algae grow faster than he can eat it??

this may sound a lil daft but how long has he gone without food? My Sailfin likes prawns (when he can get them.... b4 the oscar does)

almost a week. most of the time he's in the cave hanging upside down. he seems to have gotten paler... is that normal?? i'm still putting in algae tablets at night. the tablets seem to be in the same place and not touched in the morning. the prawns you're talking about... do you mean frozen? live? he cleans the tank of any algae really quickly but never eats tablets!! Help anyone!!

Just normal frozen prawns.... they prefer them defrosted tho lol... but cold on the way down otherwise. Mine will sit n watch the prawns 4 a while then start on them after lights out!!!!!!!

I don't really think you've got too much 2 worry about, my plecos don't eat the wafers...neither do my sisters plecos. They don't seem 2 like them. Mine seem quite happy with whatever they can find in the tank aswell as the prawns, they're quite partial 2 any fish we put in there, ie: fresh cod etc! Problem there is it gets really expensive!

Hikari sinking wafers, there's not a plec on the planet that'll refuse those.

But he does also need protein in his diet, and the prawns will be well received.
Our Common Pleco, Stewart, sometimes pushes Martha out of the way and steals her prawn because he loves them so much!

Stewart has a deathwish I think.
