I just bought two clown loaches for my community tank (filled with platties, guppy, zebra and leopard danios, ect) two days ago and I've been trying to feed them sinking waffers but the other fish find them first and hog it all. The loaches aren't comfortable enough to butt in yet. Should I try some other food that the other fish don't like and the loaches do? I think I read that they like vegi food, is that true? Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

I've had my 2 loaches for about 3 weeks and trust me the shyness will wear off.....1 of them lays on the algae tablet whenever the others comes near it as if to say " I dunno where it went,go look somewhere else" and if they persist on getting some he'll chase them off, too bad for him that while he's chasing a fish all the others jump on the food
But I had a hard time at 1st feeding them too, they didn't eat for the 1st three days in my tank
Now they munch on flakes and the frozen foods I give out but they LOVE algae tabs and shrimp pellets, also a banana slice or some cucumber now and then
 spoiled fish :D
By the way I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that clowns are omnivorous, liking meat and veggies in their diet

i feed my clown loaches cucumbers. Just buy these food clips from the petstore that have suction cups on the end and you attach the cucumbers to the aquarium. At first they didnt really show any interest in the cucumbers, but after a day or two they just started going crazy over them. Its funny to watch them eat the cucumbers too because they make a really loud clicking noise. I do suggest using thick slices of cucumber because it tends to be less messy (i just cut mine in half, the skin tends to hold the cucumber together). Youd also be surprised to see how many of your fish end up liking the cucumbers. My Cichlid even tries to get in on the action
Your loaches may be also be hiding more because they like to be in groups.
I also feed them these:
sinking carnivore pellets
Loaches are basically scavangers, and usually eat any food that makes its way to the bottom. Maybe you can try feeding your other fish their regular food, and then sneaking in some sinking food when theyre already occupied, that way it has the chance to make it to the bottom.
