I walked into the Lakeside pets at home store n saw that a tank in there had thick fog sitting on top of the water! Ive never seen this before but i thought it looked pretty cool! Haha, how do they do this or was this a mistake??

Thanks alot
Danny

omg i went there the other day and saw the same thing! i live in billericay but i dont usually go to pets at home, i just wanted to have a poke around and saw that while i was looking at the fish

I have a fogger which makes.. you guessed it, fog. With the open top tank, I have this little fogger going whenever I am in the mood. With the lights off in the room and just the tank lights on, it looks great!

They probably had the same thing.. it's for reptiles and amphibians mainly.

Edit* This one - http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/fogger.php

they did have reptiles in the shop, i only saw one though... but i am most sure they only had fish in there ????

Yeah, they're probably using it on their fish tanks too.
I'm doing a SA tank which is going to make a whole wall of my house fit in with the theme. Tall plants in the corners, over hanging the tank.. then the SA tank with loads of wood and roots etc. That, plus the little fogger will be great if it all works out how I see it.

That sounds as though it will look amazing! :)

I am already looking around my house and thinking about possibilities for building in whole wall covering tanks in the future.

I had better start saving now! :)

they look stunning
but would they stress your fish
and are they safe for fish
how do they work

heres my tank would it work if it was at the bottom or is there a max depth

The fog isnt in the water it floats on top! I saw the tank with about 3inches of water taken out, then a churning loada fog on top! Crazy! N i was thinking the same but had a read and its actually fog made out of water from you tank! As it just creates '100% humidity'

I have seen tanks with that fog effect and it looks very nice. I have not gone in that direction because with all of my tanks, I lose so much water during the heating season that it is all I can do to keep up. If I was intentionally creating a fog from my water, I could never keep up with the water losses.
