Foamy water on top...

I used those tank buddies water clear tablets in my tank....and now there is foam over the top of the water from one end of the tank to the other. im thinking those tablets are not a good idea... will this go away soon? and will my fish be ok?

I've never used them or even heard of them so not sure.

I would do a 30% wc now and then 5% daily wc's until it's gone.

If everything in the tank is set up and cycling properly and tank isn't overcrowded there shouldn't be a need to add anything else to the water. IMO all chemicals are unnatural and I avoid them unless absolutely necessary, a lot of them have been created as gimicks and to make life easy for people who don't want to really put there heart into the hobby (I see now that tetra do a product that absorbs ammonia and nitrite and apparently eliminates the need for a water change for between 3-6 months ).

Personnaly I'd stop using them but in the end its definatley up to you

ooo, don't use tank buddies. my experiences with them were real bad. the stuff to decloud water made it cloudier, another product turned my water purple. i had white stuff covering the surface from one. stay away from them. even the clerks at the lfs where i bought them said not to use them. maybe they work for certain types of tanks (goldfish???) but not regular. but don't worry, it will clear up, took about a week or so, with daily water changes, to get my water back to good, and had to rinse out the filter. it didn't hurt my fish though.

yea i rinsed out my filter and did a water change. its better now, and i put my fish back in the tank. im not going to use them anymore. the ppl at the store i got them from didnt say anything about it. i dont think they know much of anything though....

The less chemicals added to a tank, the better. All I add is dechlorinator. Just one question - why were your fish out of the tank?

i had been having problems with the water and a fish had died. so i moved the others to another tank.
