My mom has a 55 gallon tank with two 3" goldfish in it (they're inside for the winter and go outside into the pond in the summer). Right now the tank has two HOB filters and I know thats NOT enough. I'm thinking maybe a cannister filter would be a better option? Plus, she doesn't keep up with water changes (though I remind her -- she's a very busy lady) and I try to help, but having quite a few tanks myself I sometimes don't get around to taking care of hers as often as I'd like to.

SO, I was hoping to buy her a better/more powerful filtration system to at least HELP a LITTLE bit.

I keep seeing EHEIM ones (I think thats how you spell it haha) recommended a lot, and the LFS is all about Fluval. Which do you prefer & whyr? And what model (or how many gph) would be best for her tank -- keeping in mind that she has goldfish (messy messy!)

Personally I'd suggest the Eheim Pro II 2026 you can get it for $150 online maybe less.
