hiya my fluval u2 recently stopped blowing air out(water still flowing thru) so i stripped filter down cleaned out fan venturi nozzle and chamber which water flows thru and i still cant get any air bubbles to appear so was jus wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows of something i can try many thanks dai

didnt even know they could do that? do you even need them bubbles....? i think there kind of pointless...never helped me

no, i dont think so as long as your tank is not like 30c constant, warm water removes oxygen well...it doesnt but there is less in the water. Anyway as long as you have a good surface area it should be fine

Hi, aslong as water is coming out of the filter then its fine. The Airation bubbles are just an extra. an airstone would do the same.

How big is the tank? If its small then the flow from the filter should be enough. :good:

as long as there is agitation (rippling) on the waters surface then it will be fine without it, check that the venturi (the valve bit) isnt clogged using a needle, make sure it isnt submerged or turned off if the lid of the filter is just out of the water the slot in the side of the venturi should be clear of the water and the filters outlet will be causing ripples, i run mine without (the hissing or gurgling if they get water in them annoys me) i have a u2 in my 15gal and a u4 in a 55 (ok they empty at the minute but never had problems in the past) if you have tried all that then try turning the adjuster to make sure it is the top filter outlet that you are using and not the spray bar or lower nozzle :) hope that helps and isnt patronising to you if you have tried all that :)
