I was wondering if any one has used this filter and if so what is your opinion on it, and is it worth the money.

I've got one, had it for six months, I think it's wicked. I can't directly compare to anything else as this is all I have ever had.
All I can tell you is no leaks or major faults so far and my water is crystal clean. I would recommend it every time.
I had a lid bolt cross thread the other day, not sure how it happend as I don't think you could cross thread it if you tried. Anyway, emailed Hagen and told them the problem, they sent 3 spares in the post that day, arrived noon the very next day.
My friend has a smaller eheim, he recons my FX5 is much quiter.

You have so many options with media as you have 3 baskets.

One small grip, when mine arrived the top gasket was missing, had to wait another 24 hours for the supplier to send another.

Get one, you will not be disapointed, and you can never have a filter that is to big.
