Fluval Flora/ebi Lid Holders Fix

Recently purchasing a Fluval Flora I have noticed that the lid holders(plastic) were very loose when mounted. Below is a guide on how to make fit tighter.

The holders for the lid seem to be very loose fitting which means rattling when moving the lid. Being a tad OCD this was annoying so I sought about rectifying it.

The concept I thought up was to cut to size and stuff some polyester filter pads into the gaps to create a tight fit, this in return would mean a better "snug" fit and no more moment.

When placing them back onto the top of the tank it was so much better than before, completely tight

I see your thinking but would the white bits on it look more annoying? How about just using some silicone to keep it there?

I was going to say - why not clear silicone? Would look better, and if your floss gets wet it'll start growing algae and make a mess

I suppose silicone is a little permanent, if you like to remove them to clean. but yeah, white would look rubbish, i'd probably slide a bit of thin transparent perspex up the inside or something cheaper like a piece of plastic from a packet of shrink wrapped bacon, chicken or a clear ice cream tub. Got to be lots of better materials kicking around the home instead of floss.

Also you don't need to use the back corner supports for the lid as it rests firmly in the centre on the back of the tank.

I didn't include the 100% done picture(doh!)
After placing it on the glass I used a piece of card to pack it up tighter, its hardly noticeable now.

And as for the silicone, you will need to clean the glass/holders eventually wont you

I've yet to clean mine and had it a good few months. Nothing to dirty them.
