Hello everyone! I haven't posted in the Catfish section for ages.. so happy new year!

Anyway, the reason i'm posting is because i'm intending to spawn my Corydoras in the next few weeks and i'm in the process of preparing a tank for them. I'm just wandering, will a Fluval Plus 1 Filter be too strong for the Corydoras fry to swim against? It's a tall tank so I will put the inlet as high as possible to reduce the flow at the bottom of the tank but just wandered if it will still be too strong? It's a 50GPH flow rate in a tank that is 14 Gallons (will be upgraded when fry get bigger).

Any help is very much appreciated.

Im not familiar with the filter you mentioned, but you actually wont need a filter for the first couple of weeks, just a airstone to put oxygen in the water. Daily water changes and cleaning the tank will be like having a filter. If you put a filter in the tank too early, then the fry will probably end up in the filter, which is not good. A sponge filter can be added after a couple of weeks.

Or you can put some sleeve made out of filter sponge or filter floss on the inlet of the filter.
That what I do. When I want to use the HOB in small fry tank. That way they won't sucked in the filter and have some medium which culture the micro organism. Score 2 birds with 1 stone if you ask me. :good:
