Ok chaps, i have a Fluval 2 internal filter. i seemed to be getting cloudy water for the 1st 2 months. I had in the 2 foam pads.... then i noticed a 3rd one which said to put in the middle to collect the finer particles. It says to keep this in for a month.

WHen i take this out, will the water go murky again, cos from what i can gather, it should be ok with just the 2 pads (1 each side)

Thanks in advance,

Gary.

Mmm well one of my tanks run on a Fluval 2+ as well and I've never noticed any cloudiness or murkiness.
What the manufacturers recommend and what's acceptable is not always the same thing :p
The 3rd white poly pad is fine to keep in-between the 2 coarser sponges to filter out the finer particles. You can just rinse this out in some siphoned tank water when you give your filter a rinse every now and again. Seeing that you have quite a heavy bio-load you should definitely do this one a weekly basis, but your filtration might simply not be strong enough :/ with the result of some cloudiness.

You might also try running the filter with a carbon pad for a week and see what the result is and if it makes much (or any) difference.
