Any comments/suggestions please? I'm not very happy with it so far so if anyone can give me any ideas :).. I'm not planning doing CO2 or anything so nothing to elaborate hehe..

Thankyou :)

(excuse the pictures :S not great.. the flash just totally washed them out .. so took them without the flash and there a bit dull )

Nice. I like the black sand, I have just changed to it!

Thankyou Westwood :).. Yeah the black sand is really nice.. it looks more effective in my bigger tank as the wood isn't so dark :)

Anyone any idea how I can make it look a bit better :)

I'm no expert but if it was my tank I'd probably cover the wood in moss to try and get a bit of contrast between the dark wood and the black sand, I'd also plant something like Staurogyne repens to the sides of it and maybe some Pogostemon helferi in front to try and get a bit of depth/transition from front to back.

Cheers

Thanks for your reply :)

How would the staurogyne repens and helferi do without any fancy co2 etc.. and are they quite easy to look after ?

Okay, the photos aren't great, but..

I've changed the bit off bogwood .. it was too dark, so gonna cover it in moss and put it in the bigger tank.. the vallis wasn't looking too healthy so i've taken that out ..

My plan is to put some bushier plants to either side of the wood, then some pogostemon helferi to the front of it.. I think i'm going to tidy up the swords aswell, maybe just have 3 bunches instead of 4

What do you think so far, any ideas?

I like it. :) I doubt the Pogostemon Helferi would do very well in such a low light setup. A better option would be to go with Cryptocoryne Amicorum imo. Although, i would consider using some weeping moss to create a carpet effect. A perfect tank for Shrimp btw... ;) :D

Thankyou :).. Thats a shame about the helferi..

Has anyone ever tried Monosolenium tenerum, i actually seen it in my LFS today and it would look good as a carpet i think .. ?

Can anyone recommend a good place to get plants online, my LFS do stock tropica plants but its quite limited ..

I was a bit creeped out by shrimps to start with but they've grown on me.. so i'm goin to keep some small endlers and crystal red shrimps :good: :good: (i think)

Oh.. and any ideas for what midground plants would look nice either side of the bogwood?

Crypts, Crypts and more Crypts! :D

Wendtii Brown towards the rear, then Amicorum in front of it. The brown will give a nice contrast to the dark substrate and the green of the swords.

Blyxa would also look nice :)

Plants alive have a good rep i believe.

But check out the classified section on here for plants. Some good bargains to be had!!
