Would a fluval chi tank be ideal to house a male and a female betta? It cones with everything in the picture of it I believe. It's 6 gallons and the dimensions are 10Lx10Wx12H.
I was also looking at the marineland Eclipse hex 5. It's dimensions are 13Lx11.25Wx15.5H.
Which one is better? The fluval chi is $55 and the hex 5 is $30. The hex doesn't look as cool but.....

Why not a male and a female?

Is it stocking issues? I don't think aggression because males and females should get along right? If it's tank size what is a better size? Which tank would be better? I'm thinking the hex but idk?

No, males and females will not get along in that size tank. I wouldn't try it in anything with less than a footprint of 18"x36", heavily decorated to break up lines of sight as well as providing places for one or the other to retreat to & hide.

Ok then I guess it'll just be you and me invisible male betta fish waiting to happen.

Is there any shrimp I could put in with him instead of s female? Like ghost red cheery etc.

Or would he eat them? Ghost shrimp would be my first choice. Do they have special feeding requirements?

Not really... They are pretty easy, just kinda anti-social (a territorial species) shrimp are hit and miss... Some Bettas ignore them, and others invite them to dinner! All but 1 of mine is the latter variety.

On the other hand a cool, easy, and unexpectedly good tankmate is Triops! They are super easy, too big to be lunch once adults, and really cool and busy natured

As cool as they look not really my type. Maybe I'll try like 5 ghost shrimp see how they do. If they don't do so hot what are some other fish I could put in there that wouldn't bother mr.betta? (ghost shrimp are what I want because they're only 27 cents a pop here.

Or would a betta prefer being alone? Maybe he'd like other fish though?

They do fine alone. Many are better off alone. Mine shares a 25 litre tank with a nerite snail.

Well people put them in bowls but that significantly shortens they're lives. The least I'd do is 1.5 per betta but I would only do a 3 with a divider in the middle at the least.
