Hi All,

I’ve just purchased a new fluval 107 canister filter and after setting it up the lid does not seal properly and it leaks. I have a 407 canister as well which I’ve never had an issue with.

I’ve set up the gasket as well but the lid just won’t seal properly so water leaks out the side and it’s currently unusable. Water will leak out without it even being turned on but when it’s turned on it pours out.

Any ideas or help????

Take it back. Probably just a bad gasket but that shouldn't happen on a new filter.

When I got my 407 it didn't read the instructions and placed the gasket where it looked like it should go. I was wrong and the minute I started the system water starting flowing out of the canister. I then found I put the gasket in the wrong location, once I fixed it it ran well. Your experience seems similar, give the gasket location another look and ensure it is in the right location.

It’s definitely in the correct place as I thought this might be the issue but have looked at some videos as well and it’s definitely in the right place. The lid doesn’t seem to be shutting fully even with the clips properly clamped and closed so not sure what’s going on

Take it back it sounds faulty, but just have a close look at the "o" ring for any small nicks.

Is the lid on the motor assembly securely shut and sealed, it may not allow a full closure if it isn't flush. But you've got a warranty and you can take it back.

I have a 407 and after cleaning the filter I have it on the floor (solid surface) and firmly press down all the way around. I never use the clamps to try and pull it down. Once it's seated, check the gap between the motor assembly and the canister body, it has to be even all the way around.

Just a suggestion in case you haven't tried it.

Bite the bullet and take it back mate... even if there's something you've missed they find that'll still be a good thing for you, and us if you share. Let me know how you get on if possible, I have a 407 and it's been faultless.
