Hi guys,

I'm currently in the process of making a few changes to my setup which I'd like to get some assistance with.

The Fluval 406 uses ribbed hosing 17mm which is currently installed, I'm wanting to add:

- A Hydor Inline 300w Heater which is 16mm (http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/catalogue_products.php?prodID=3236&catID=7)
- An UP-Aqua Co2 Atomizer which is 16mm - 22mm (or can get 12-16mm) (http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.com.au/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=1196)

Will all the above products work fine when installing the clear vinyl tubing onto my canister filter, fit with the hydor inline heater and Co2 Atomizer? I'm a little confused when they say 16-22mm, does that mean you can use any hose connection that is between those specs?

Any help with the above, or any suggestions would be awesome, thanks.

Anyone?

Hello

16/22mm tubing is a reference to the tubes inner and outer dimensions. i.e 16mm diameter internal and 22mm external diameter.
This tells you that the tube wall thickness is (22 - 16) / 2 = 3mm.

In practice, you can really use any pipe "that can be made to fit". I've got a couple of weird external filters that use "non-standard" pipe sizes. As Eheim pipe is really the easiest to obtain on Ebay I've found that this will readily fit.. against all of the dire warnings of leaks etc. Warming the ends of the pipe in hot water softens it.. so it can be forced onto a **slightly** larger connection.

You may want to use hose clips.. I use this type: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-22mm-25mm-AQUARIUM-HOSE-PIPE-CLIPS-REEF-MARINE-FISH-CORAL-TANK-/221203218428?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item3380bd3ffc for anything in contact with/under water and something like: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hozelock-Winged-Zinc-Jubilee-Clips-20mm-3-4-2-Pack-For-Pond-Garden-Hose-/180967609976?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PondsWaterFeatures_UK&hash=item2a22829678 for everything else. The use of winged jubilee clips just saves having to keep a screwdriver nearby.

I think that you'll be fine doing what you propose.
