my fluval 405 has stopped working ! motor is still running but not pumping any ideas , ? have removed the pipes and locking valve and the white valve is not moving when pumpped !!??? slightly worrying

Is the impellor ok? The spindles seem to break quite easily on these.

has just kicked in again blew loads of bubbles out and back to normal girlfriend said been doin most of day < just told me ?? and said it was making some strange noises ??

It can be worthwhile giving the fluval filters a sturdy shake from side-to-side every once in while as they can get trapped with air somehow. As good as they are they do have some basic flaws that can break them rather too easily. Once a month with mine i tilt it about 45 degrees each direction and give it a wobble to remove trapped air, usually does the trick. Then every 6 months i give it a thorough taking apart to clean it out properly.

I have to give mine the wobble treatment every time I do a water change, the primer seems to be a bit useless (or I can't pump hard enough, no jokes please!). I have to admit to not being very impressed with it.

hhhmmm thanks for replys !! will see how it goes was offerd a used fx5 for £80 , but wont fit it in cabinit !!

Always the way! Mind you my Eheim Pro3 doesn't fit in my cabinet for the 120l either, the door just won't close...

You're not running an airstone near the filter inlet are you??

i was !!!!! think that may of been the problem !!?? :good:

Yeah, air bubbles get sucked into the filter and cause airlocks. That's what's causing the "big blows".

I only know this because I had the same issue, (Oddly with my 405), so I just moved the airstone so it's not near the inlet. Is fine now :)
