Hi everyone. I just installed a new fluval 305. I have wild fish, bullhead cat, green tipped sunfish, rather large fish. Eat mostly live with parts floating around. It dose mean cleaning the filter more often. The employees end up doing in my quick disconnects on the renas. On the fluval it says to have the out take under water. Wild fish go to the top as soon as the oxygen drops in the tank. With the outtake under water the oxygen created by the spray bar on the old filter has decreased. Can I pull the outtake up to get more agitation? I have a large air stone on the opposite side of the tank already. Can you add a spray bar to this unit?

have the outake positioned so it's under the water, but right at the surface. That should give you enough surface agitation.

However, what size tank are we talking about here? If it's massive, the 305 might not be powerful enough for the whole tank.

its a 50 gallon

I have a 405 with the outlet just below the water level and it disturbs the surface enough for my fish, but if it doesn't for yours I imagine you could fit a spray bar if you can make the hose fit it nicely. you may have to have the spray bar under the water when you prime it but after its primed and running you can lift it above the water level.
