I have Fluval 305 in a Fluval Roma 240 litre tank. The feature of the tank is that the pipes come in through the bottom so there are no trailing pipes. Although the inlet and outlet pipes are at different heights, they are afterall on the the same end of the tank and I'm thinking I am probably geting dead spots on the other end. Since the aquarium is new I am also running a small filter/power head to aid with ridding the tank of cloudiness caused by new sand but there is still not much water movement on the left side of the installation. Would I be better off getting a spray bar kit and mounting it at the opposite end to the tank outlet? This would cause a current and since my fish stock consists mostly of clown loaches this might not be a bad thing perhaps? Is Fluval's one-sided design deliberate for some reason that I'm not aware of?

Cheers

A spray bar would be simple and cost effective way of solving your problem and also it would help out with oxygenating the side of your tank where you mentioned you have slack water which is always a bonus , a friend of mine had the same problem in his 350l tank so he placed a small (300lph) filter with spray bar which he removed all the media from at the end where the slack water was and that sorted it for him :good:

Removing the media (sponges ect was just our little way of not having to service it along with boosting the flow power a little)
