Anyone know where you can get a couple cheap, ebay is 6.50 each, one of mine has cracked not yet broke and another broke last year and fluval sent me a replacment for about £8.

*Sigh* Two in as many years says something about this components "quality". Sure you don't need a new impeller/impeller shaft too, if the split is allowing the impeller shaft to move while the impeller spins, the impeller or shaft may get damage9 as a result, as it is spinning round 50 times a second after all...

I'd be tempted to super-glue the outside of the crack (i.e. the media side) rather than replace it... But hey, that's just me. £6.50 is likely to be very cheap for a replacement, but Google Product Search may find one cheaper (but ask it to order by price, low to high, or you'll be looking though all day no doubt...)

All the best

The impeller cover on the fluval x04 series is just atrocious. They always break and snap especially just behind the snapin things that hold it in place.

My dad has run a 304 for a fair few years and has been able to get free covers out of hagen by ringing them directly. Dont know how he does it as he just rings up, explains it broke and he always get one sent out free..

Give that a try, you never know you might get lucky :)

i would be tempted to see if the impeller shaft moved excessively, something must be vibrating quite violently to crack the cover. you do need to find the cause instead of just trying to solve the problem.
the 04 series from fluval are known to have numerous flaws but can and do get run for years with no problems, i ran one for 5 years solid with very few problems.
just check the impeller area of the pump head, check everything is fixed (no excessive movement), the shaft should be reasonably sturdy in place, and the cover should fit with no problems and not much force.
i think only when you find the cause and amend it, is it worth replacing broken parts.
