Ok, so I just got one of these for free courtesy of www.freecycle.org

It's not in great shape to be honest...

It was previously used in a saltwater tank. I don't know how long ago.

I opened it up, poured out some of the water (It didn't smell horrible, and I was really expecting it to) and took a look.

Questions

1. There are 3 compartments (circular). How do I open these? They look filthy, and I'll want to clean them for use in freshwater.

2. I only got the basic filter, no tubes. A tiny bit of tube is sticking up on the "out", but I would imagine this has been cut. What should I do?

I've been assured it works fully, but I guess I'm going to have to invest some serious time in this :(

Ihe top compartment has 2 finger holes, i hold the side of the compartment and with the 2 fingers in the holes, turn, This will undo the 1st compartment.
The lower compartments have to be twisted to unlock them from each other.

You will need an intake stem and a spray bar, some tubing and on/ off taps for the tubing.
heres a company who can supply every thing you need.

Id ring them 1st and explain your situation and they will tell you all the parts needed, in case ive missed some out.

PS, my 303 has been running non stop for about 10yrs, and for a long time ive had it just as a carbon filter for my water butt (rain water catcher) out side all year round.
