i have a fluval 3+ set up in my tank and what i would like to know is do i have to have bubbles comming out of it or just have water movement also should i have it on min or max?

You need to have it so as there is water movement and how much depends on the size of tank and the fish in it.

i have the 2+. i dont have the bubbly thing on it, cos i lost it. ;) I have the flow on medium.

if your tank is heavily stocked with high-oxygen-demanding fish, more bubbles and more flow. adjust the flow till you have as much surface disturbance (for aeration) as possible without making the tank too rough for the fish to swim in. ;)
