Hi Guys,

I have a Fluval 3+, in a 60L tank. Couple of months old and It’s giving me a headache. I woke up and the flow was just trickling but was perfect the night before. I cleaned the media plugged it in and worked again but the media wasn’t really that dirty. 2 days later and same story. This time I turned the media around and It was flowing perfectly. I woke up next morning and it had pretty much stopped. I spun the propeller around a few times with my finger and didn’t touch the media and its working again. I’m nervous as I don’t want it to break without a spare around. Anybody had this before or have an idea of what’s happening?

Thanks,
Glynn

Have you taken the impellor out and given it a good clean? I had similar problems with my fluvals not working properly and being temperamental(I had to turn them upside down to get them started after I had cleaned the media at one point). Took the impellor out and it was filthy and that's why it kept sticking, since cleaning it I haven't had any problems.

Same here clean impellor and all should be fine and dandy, clean the plastic surrounding the impeller and inside where the impeller sits also and should be ok.

Yeah just pull, you may feel some resistance and panic thinking your going to break it but you won't, I usually use a clean cotton bud to clean inside where the impellor sits as well.

Thank you, I'll let you know if it sorts it out.

Nothing beats experience, Thank you filter sorted but i've been left with a bad state of water conditions. :-(

a small babys bottle brush is good for cleaning internal filters
