Fluval 2 Plus

I have a small 3 foot tank, only goldfish but theyre happy!

My Fluval 2 Plus seems to gasp and the water flow stops, then it starts again. Stop start, I've cleaned it and its not blocked.

Any ideas?

cable damage? or plug part way in the wall socket you could also try opening the plug up to see if the wires are lose its sounds like the powers cutting out or the impella is damaged or jamming

sounds like the impeller has stuck. sometimes they get clogged with muck, you can pull the impeller out easy enough clean it and slot it back in, should work after that.

Have you removed the impellor to check if the shaft is ok and not clogged up? Also, are you using the standard filter sponges? A thought might be if you're using filter wool it might be getting stuck with that?

A Fluval 2 plus is probably a little under rated for that size of tank with several goldfish. Goldfish are essentially poop machines and need plenty of filtration

Hope its not terminal for the filter!
