Fluval 1?

Hiya, I have a 2inch goldie in an 8G... yes I know it's small but I am planning on upgrading in the next 6-12 months as due to decorating, there's nowhere to put a bigger tank just yet. I am currently using the Elite Mini filter which I used on an old 5G tank... it doesnt seem to be doing a TOO bad of a job, but I was thinking would it be better to upgrade to a Fluval 1 or Stingray 10?

Right I've bought it...

Instead of running both filters to encourage beneficial bacteria, can I stuff the Elite Mini media in the Fluval?

Yes you can, as long as you dont stuff it in too much and reduce the flow too much
