Hi all,

so as I love the look of planted tanks I thought it was about time that I start a thread here to document on going progress. I currently have 3 tanks and I really want to revamp them all. I'm going to start with the biggest though, my 200(ish)ltr.

I'm starting to grow really fed up with how my tank looks at the moment, and really want a change. I did a small change around a good while ago but have never been happy with how it looks.
So I was hoping that all you guys who have a better understanding of aqua-scaping tanks could give me some advice?

Here is a picture of the tank presently:

tank1.jpg

Inhabitants are as follows: 9 female Betta, 1 Pearl Gourami and 2 Laetacara Araguaiae.

Future inhabitants: 1 bristle nose plec, 8 rummy nose tetra, and maybe a couple of other small shoaling fish.
Plants: All I can recognise is (or what I think is) vallis, anubias and java fern. Have no idea what anything else in there is called ^^'

I think it looks too scattered and disorganised, and I really like the "island" type settings that you see sometimes so that could be something to try.
We have some unused lava rock and oceanic rock in the shed that I could use, as well as the bog wood already in the tank.

Anyone have any crits or ideas?
If I did a major revamp, would it be safest to bag up all the fish and float them in my other tanks whilst I re-scape the tank? Or will that put them under too much stress?
Also, I was thinking about getting some of those tabs that you bury in the substrate that feed the plants, could anyone recommend a good (but affordable) brand please? I would love to get Co2, but there is no way I can afford it at the moment :( There is an under layer of substrate that leaks plant food slowly into the tank though, but I don't know how long this is supposed to last for and I set the tank up back in August.

Thanks for any suggestions :good:

Looks like you also have some hygro species as well, and some rotala and crypts. What are you stats? Lighting, current substrate, filtration?

I see potential for an island scape without much upheaval actually. How many pieces of wood have you got in there?

Have to agree with the above statements, A Regrouping of the plants is all that is needed.
