Fluorescent Lighting and Small Tank

I have a 10 gal tank and I replaced my two 15 watt incadescent bulbs with two 10 watt Flourescent 6500k bulbs. It is much much brighter and now for some reason my little barbs freak out and group together and act like it's too bright for them.

I have a few platies in my 10 lit by 30watts in my Eclipse hood and they all hide when the lights are on. They only calmed down after I added some foliage and hiding places for them. Might be the same for you...

how recently did you change the lighting?
it may just take them some time to get used to.

it might be a good idea to get some floating plants to reduce the light a bit.
