Can someone clear up for me wether the sump return can be included in the tank turnover figures ?

Or is it just powerheads / closed loops ?

Of course it can, but in most cases the sump flowrate only pushes 1/5th of the amount of water as powerheads and closed loops. Significant, yet not THAT significant. Remember, head loss needs to be taken into account when considering how much water the sump pump is ACTUALLY pushing up as the actual flowrate is always significantly lower than the rated maximum at 0 head.
