Flowers In Your Tank?

I have a friend that has fake flowers in her fish tank. She was told by an employee at a LFS that it would be okay and she has had them in there now for a few weeks and her fish seem fine. It looks really pretty and I was thinking about doing it as well but I'm scared to without knowing a bit more about it? Does anyone know if it is harmful? Has anyone evr tried this? Thanks!

You can get fake silk aquarium plants so I don't think silk flowers would really be any different but I might be wrong. You would have to watch what they have been coloured with though as some could be really toxic

I suppose there are fake flowers and then there are fake flowers! They could be made of anything, and unless you have exactly the same type as your friend, you are starting from scratch. Even if your friend has had them for a few weeks it is no guarantee what will happen long term.
