Well, I know a lot of people will start to hate me because I'm showing interest in a hybrid fish. Whatever lol. How large do FH normally get? I'm going to be (hopefully) constructing a very large tank, that I've measured out as just over 350 gallons and Id like to know if it could be kept with a multitude of other large aggressive cichlids? Thanks any help is appreciated or a nice caresheet. ;)

This forum is for people who keep hybrids so you needn't worry about people hating you.

Your tank sounds great and will defo be big enough for a group of large aggressive cichlids.Better off getting them all young and letting them grow up together as this should lessen the aggression somewhat.

Flowerhorns are relatively easy to care for.Provide good clean water, good food(high quality pellets)and stay away from feeder fish and you should be fine.

Thanks, yes I will most likely get them all small and let them grow up, but some fish might have to be purchased large, as they aren't very common.
Also, yea I know I won't have people hating me in this thread, I use this name on other boards and people will start to hate. Oh well them hatas don't matta g! lol

Every person is a hybrid in my opinion, after all women act like different species at times

On a more serious note your aquarium volume more than suggests enough room for a FH and maybe other robust Cichlids, my Red Dragon ZZ lives with a large Blue Crayfish & a Syno in a 100g tank.

your comment has been noted and will be reported to the Sisterhood at our next meeting; you have been warned

what else were you thinking of putting in there? a FH might be a little too aggressive, depending on its tankmates.

350-400 was a bit big and unrealistic, looked like a better idea in my head than in real life.. The biggest I'm planning now is ~250. Which would have tank mates such as a few sunfish, JD, Oscar, Texas, Jag, Perch etc.
Although, as of now the one I'm planning is 5X2X3, which gives me 225 gallons which would have 5 sunfish, and maybe 5 cichlids. Dunno right now we'll see.!

Some Fh specimens have grown to sizes up to 18-20 inches making this a very big and MAGNIFICENTLY beautiful fish.

about aggression.. and putting it with different fish..this all depends mainly on the aggressions of each fish and tank space..is there a place for others to hide etc..

good luck!! hope to see some posting of your Fh..

well me.. i usually only have one Fh per tank.. for masterpieces you dont want anything to happen to them..hehehe
